Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
What is hypnosis?
Basically hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation. It is a natural phenomenon which we experience every day such as when you let your mind wander and daydream, or that time just before you fall asleep each night. Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years with the Ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians using it for therapeutic benefits.

Hypnotherapists use hypnosis as a tool to bring about beneficial changes in the client, dealing with issues such as weight loss, phobias, smoking and sexual problems.

Being in hypnosis is a very pleasant and relaxing experience where your senses have a heightened awareness and your memory recall is enhanced. Common sensations include feeling tingly or having a floating sensation. Whilst in hypnosis you will remember everything you and your therapist say. You are totally in control of what you do and say and are aware of your surroundings. You still have overall control of your mind whilst at the same time you will be more open to suggestions that may be given out by the hypnotherapist.

It is not possible that you would be made to do anything you did not want to
do. There is no reason whatsoever I would ask you to cluck like a chicken and if I did you would question why it is necessary! It is a misconception that some people cannot go into hypnosis, EVERYBODY can be hypnotised, both children and adults although many people do not think they ever “went under”.

Hypnotherapy – Choice of 2 types – Which do I need?
There are two types of therapy I offer. During our initial free consultation I will explain both types to you, answer your questions and recommend which method of therapy will be particularly beneficial to you.

Suggestion Therapy
Simpler and more straightforward problems or achievement of short term goals can be treated with Suggestion Therapy (also known as Clinical Hypnosis).  As a member of the International Association of Pure Hypno-Analysts I am highly trained in the application of Suggestion Therapy, using carefully worded hypnotic suggestions to help people re-programme negative thought patterns. Suggestion Therapy involves using psychology, visualisation, positive suggestions, hypnosis and relaxation to create immediate changes in behaviour.

The following are examples of issues that can be treated with Suggestion Therapy in one or two sessions:-
  • Exam nerves
  • Blushing / Shyness
  • Nail biting
  • Pain control
  • Public speaking
  • Smoking
  • Sports enhancement
  • Stress
  • Weight loss

Analytical Therapy (Hypno-analysis)
As a member of the IAPH I specialise in a totally unique form of “pure” hypno-analysis which proves very successful in allowing the client to resolve the root cause of their problem, relieving them from their symptoms forever. IAPH hypnotherapists treat upwards of 250,000 clients each year. This type of therapy is one of the best methods available for treating issues which are psychological, emotional and anxiety related.

Why use Analytical Therapy?
The use of hypnosis during therapy dramatically speeds up the therapeutic process, achieving results in a matter of weeks compared to around 1000 hours of conventional therapy, saving not only time but money. This is because being in the relaxed state of hypnosis allows the subconscious to gain access to hidden memories and emotions. In conventional therapy you may be lead by what the therapist thinks is important, surely dictated by their own life patterns - in our therapy you and your subconscious takes the lead. Hypno-analysis is a fast, effective way to discover the root cause of the anxiety/problem and an average of 6 to 12 (average 8) weekly sessions of approximately 1 hour each, provides a lasting and permanent cure.

Benefits of Hypno-analysis
  • Removing your anxiety-related symptoms forever
  • Feeling calmer, more relaxed and more confident
  • Feeling more in control of your life and more able to cope with stressful situations
  • Becoming more emotionally stable
  • Your feeling of positivity, freedom and control will be life changing.

What to expect
A typical session involves using hypnosis to help you relax, unwind, feel comfortable and safe. The rest of the session is used by getting you to link past experiences together, going back to emotions which have been locked away, often for a long time. By talking about the strong emotions your subconscious may have repressed, they can be resolved in a safe, natural, gentle and non-directive way thereby removing the anxiety within you which in turn removes your symptoms (your phobia, your sexual problem or whatever it may be).

Here are some of the symptoms treated with Analytical Therapy although there are many more I can help you with. Feel free to give me a call to discuss further on 07990 521266.
